VST in 2 host applications?

Hello all, I got a small question.. is it possible to install VST in 2 different host applications (for instance logic and cubase). the reason I'm asking is - I'm moving from logic to cubase, but don't want to quit logic completely before I get used to cubase. so I made a fresh install of both hosts, but haven't installed anything else yet, cause if I install an VST it would prolly ask for the dir of the first Host I installed and the other one would be left out - Am I right about this, or is there a method you can have VST installed in both host at the same time?

It depends on the plugs actually. Some rare plugs need to know where they are located via the registry. Those ones can't be copied over to be in the search path of different hosts (in the case you have a different search path for each host). All other configurations should work fine.

That is why I install all my VSTs in a generic location so It can be used by any application... Then all you have to do is direct your application to that specific directory

Likewise here - all of my hosts (Sonar, FLStudio, EnergyXT, Phrazor, etc) can be told to find my C:\Program Files\vstplugins folder.djwglpuppy wrote:That is why I install all my VSTs in a generic location so It can be used by any application... I use my Tracktion/plugins directory, and direct all my apps like EXT and such to that directory. It doesn't matter where they are. Just pick a directory anywhere, even one you already have, and just direct every app to the same directory. Won't be a problem at all.
