I created a sample in reason and set it to loop.

However the loop plays faster as you go up in keys, which I think is wrong. Pitch should go up, not the time on the loop or the amplitude of the sound...

any ideas?

No solution in Reason. NN-XT doesn't do time stretching on samples, nor does any other Reason device. This isn't such uncommon behavior for a sampler, but it would certainly be nice if it had it. Even a low quality time stretch is better than nothing (see Tracktion :hihi:).

The only solution I can think of is to timestretch a sample in another sampler or editing app, and bring multisamples (1 per note) into NN-XT.

Nope. That's how it's supposed to work on a sampler. If it's a rhythmic loop, you can try out ReCycle, to edit the loop and then import it into Dr. Rex. If it's not rhythmic, you're going to need to get another program like Ableton Live, or ACID, to link to Reason via Rewire.

The timestretch is a good idea. Why samplers like nn-xt (advanced sampler) doesn't implement is very lame.

I do have ableton, and I think that "Sampler" for ableton has that ability. I am thinking of getting that. Maybe next month.

I hear you on this one.. I was looking for a plugin that would do this automatically for a while.. The only one I know of is ONESHOTRECORDERImage..
The free hard way if you want to play different notes from your sample and have the timing the same, your going to have to create an instrument. What I would suggest is loop the entire sample for as many notes you want to go up (or down). Render. Then do time use a pitch shifter/time expander to transpose each sucsessive loop up or down as many semitones as you want to go. Save these as separate files, load the, into the sampler and then map to appropriate keys..

ALSO

if its a bass sample you could get a seamless looppoint and then tweak the ADSR and Filter cutoff envelope..

You can get more intricate with velocity zones and layers.. These will make it sound and play more naturally..
