I'm going to be replacing my XP-60 with an Axiom 61 (more than likely that's what I will buy anyway posted another thread helping me decide in hardware forum). So, according to the M-Audio.com site Axiom 61's come with Ableton Live Lite 5. However, my local GC says the ones they are selling come with Ableton Live Lite 4.

Because I do not yet own Live Lite and cannot register on ableton.com, the price for an upgrade from Ableton Live Lite 4 -> Live 6 Box is not available to me.

2 questions:

- How much is it to upgrade from Live Lite 4 -> Live 6 Box?
- How much is it to upgrade from Live Lite 5 -> Live 6 Box?

If they are the same price then it doesn't matter which "lite" version I have? Do the Abes charge more for LL4 -> L6B than they do for LL5 -> L6B or what?

TIA

They've recently changed the site by the look of it.
There was a different price sructure for Lite upgrades (I gave the copy I got with my Axiom to a friend who was interested in Live), but I can't remember it.
There appears to be just one price now -229 euros boxed & 149 euros download for any live 1-4 versions?

Thanks guys. Looks like $399 for box version and that doesn't include operator or sampler plugins. Damn or $299 without box (and minus "instrument collection" -- wtf is that anyway?) with option to buy the box stuff for $99 later...

I think I'm going to see if I even need to upgrade. What are the features missing in live lite to live? Is it something like number of tracks limitation?

Hi Jack
Live Lite is a bit tricky :
You can only play with few tracks (i guess 4 audio & 2 midi). And (if i remember correctly), if you add more tracks (you can), you won't be able to save your project.
Maybe that if you have Ext and can wrap it in Live, you'll find it is enough, but for 200$ the upgrade, it worths it.
I don't really care myself about Operator or the sampler (yes, i would, the sampler seems fine, but it is damn too expensive, and i think worse than Shortcircuit or Directwave, which are both cheaper).
The "instrument thing"... well, i also got lost on their site trying to understand what it is, and really, i can't remember exactly, it doesn't worth it (i think it is a collection onf orchestral samples to use with theiir native Impulse and Simpler vsti.... so any free samples aroud should do the trick i think !
I think you can get the "basic" downloadable thing wiithout operator, sampler, and "instruments coll" for about 200$, which shold be fine ;)
