Can anyone tell me how to route midi to an EFFECT in Sonar 6? Is this possible? I"m trying to get this LUCIFER VST working, but its an effect which needs to receive midi input...

I'm a user of GURU which I think is a very nice tool, but recently I downloaded Luficerdemo but can't seem to get it working. I'm using SONAR6 Producer Editoin and I set the plug-in properties to "Enable as plug-in" and "Configure as synth" but I can only insert Lucifer into the fx bin as an "audio effect" not as a "soft synth." It's not in the soft synth menu, so I can't route midi to it right. any tips?

Thanks,

Max

Hi Max,

Yes, Lucifer is an effect that inputs midi ! Check Sonar 6 routing capabilities, see if you can rout MIDI to an effect. Let me know if you find out or not !

Thanks

There's an acknowledged bug in SONAR 6 but there's a workaround.

Run the Plug-in Manager
Select the VST effect you want to route MIDI to
Open its properties and tick "Configure as Synth"
OK, save, close etc
Open regedit
Navigate to HKLM\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk VST\<plugin path>*
Set isSynth value to 1
Run SONAR
The effect will now appear in the synth menu and can have MIDI routed to it

* From memory - it may be slightly different
