i have tried flstudio 6 and feel it is excellent for creating music quicker than others. The problem is that i find some features lacking or not well implemented.

Same for the Step sequencer

The playlist is not as powerful as i wanted.
For eg the length of the patterns in playlist cant be varied. for creating a pattern for half measure i have to use that weired cut tool ,copy pattern etc instead of just resizing the pattern as in daws like cubase.
i am not going to use it with audio tracks but for midi so the lack of friendly audio track implementation does not worry me but should'nt it be best with sequencing. What if my song has changing time signatures ? flstudio cant help for this .
is there any sequencer having such facilities( except reason cos it doesnt support vsti).
It should be best with sequencing features.
I am afraid if it can compete with the piano roll that flstudio provides.

...This is exactly how I use FL.. My suggestions is to still get FL but add Energy XT (modular host) to suppliment the lack of features. If this does not suffice I would DEFINATLY go for a FL & Cubase SX 3 combination. You cant go wrong with Cubases MIDI part functions and FL's ease of use! Remember you can use FL as a rewire slave/master also, this has benfits with many many other hosts!

XT has great tempo change capabilities, but a very odd limitation: the click does not count the correct accents in odd times.
Tracktion is next best for changing time sigs, counts correctly, etc. Some people love the piano roll, some people hate it. The playlists and looping features will be in T3, hopefully coming this winter...

I just downloaded Energy XT demo and it is cool.The modular design gives more flexiblity. I can use flstudio (my favorite ) as vst with it. I think i ill be using these both apps with cubase. Thanx for replying lagrange and jplanet.
