What is the purpose. At present I find it confusing, because what I see, is not what I hear.Note: While adjusting one of those properties you can see a preview of the effect of the knob value on the envelope shape. However once you release the mouse key the envelope is restored to its previous view. The knob still has its effect, though it is not reflected in the curve to avoid distortion and to make editing easier.

Can someone explain this ADSR behaviour.

The way sytrus envelopes work is you can set "markers" on your points.
Anything before the "decay" (or if there is none, the "sustain") flag is considered "attack"
The point flagged "decay" is considered "decay"
the point flagged "Sustain loop end" or the entire sustain loop, if there is one, is considered "sustain"
Anything after "sustain loop end" or, if there is no sustain, after "decay", is considered release.
The ADSR knobs will not graphically alter the envelope; they cannot. their benefit is that, unlike the rest of the Sytrus envelopes, they are automatabe, so you can shrink or grow the "attack" time by automating that knob. For envelope DESIGN you shouldn't use them, just for envelope MODULATION.

The explanation of why it is this way doesn't even make sense. I just don't get the use of this approach. Why not have that for everything, when you select a square wave it still shows a sine wave
, when you change the mix of the effect to 75% it still shows 0%to avoid distortion and to make editing easier
.to avoid distortion and to make editing easier

Ok, that makes perfect sense now. Thanks. Still, I think there should be a button to make them either automation only or control knobs.Toxikator wrote:The ADSR knobs will not graphically alter the envelope; they cannot. their benefit is that, unlike the rest of the Sytrus envelopes, they are automatable, so you can shrink or grow the "attack" time by automating that knob. And that is the explanation that should be in the manual
