Vanilla Comp and general comp question.

How would you rank these compressors from best to worst if you have experience with them all.

Marquis Compressor
Crunchessor
GCO-1
Blockfish

That's a really tough call between the top 2 and between the next two. GCO-1 is so versatile, but Marquis is the king of analog-style compressors. Vanilla is amazing, but still lacks a GUI (which may or may not be a big deal for you), Crunchessor is great, but the stock Voxengo GUI and lack of familiar controls take it down a notch.

And I know it's good, popular and much beloved around here, but I don't think Blockfish is in the same league as the other four. Totally just MHO.

Are you trying to figure out which one to get or use for you day-to-day needs?

Yea I guess I should buy 1 or 2 and also use the Vanilla.

Blockfish is better suited for drum bus where it's controls can work out more magic than on other source material, imho. You can't parallel it nicely, though, because of not reporting delay to the host.
