Need some help looking for a certain type of vocal effect(s)

OK, in the immediate classic "musical art" piece by the incredibly talented singer Paris Hilton she demonstrates a super-human ability to maintain a "sustained even breathy sound" while she sings.

Ah such a talent, who would have guessed.

I was wondering if "lesser humans" have access to any type of plug-in effect to add that heavy, sustained "breathy" sound into a vocal performance? If it were anyone but the mult-talented Paris, I'd assume it was some sort of effect, but that has to be her singing that way.

Of course it could be a mix of effects an synthesis.

I've looked, but sometimes it's just not knowing a certain effects "name/label" can make finding appropriate plug-ins impossible.

I've tried a few vocoders, no luck. I've done some google searches for "vocal prosesssing" and "breathy" and only received hits for external hardware.

I'm looking for a plug-in. Is there one, say like Eventide but for PCs?

Oh and all you Paris Haters, don't waste time with hate posts. You're just jealous because you don't have "real blue eyes" like her, or aren't a "real blond" like her, and probably only wish you could sing as perfectly as she can.

Try using an exciter ... and some compression.

Or you could try the old trick of doing a 'whisper' track & blending it with the original. Plus, as thecontrolcentre said, the essential ingredient: compression.

I was doing some big R&D sessions a year or so ago, with respect to FFT processing. The "serious" outcome was the Sex Machine feature in Clone Ensemble, and the not-quite-so-serious outcome was Metal Demon (one of the Psycho Toolkit bundle).
One of the techniques I tried was "spectral blurring", where you basically blur the FFT buffer (with a bit of attention to the fact that an FFT buffer contains complex numbers). This certainly gave a breathy sound, but it was also quite harsh and a bit glitchy.
A related technique (not blurring) was less breathy and more "throaty", so paired with an octave transposer and formant shifter, it became Metal Demon.
But your post has got me thinking - a spectral blurring approach might do what you're after, provided it was layered appropriately.
Alternative - pump white noise through a vocoder, and layer that over the heavily auto-tuned and compressed vocal.

Hey Trevor, thanks for the technique tips. I had thought of the "white noise" idea as well, but I haven't set down to figure out how to do it, because the vocoders I have seem to have set sounds to use, but that may only be because I don't know them well enough yet.

Oh I bought your Clone Ensemble - a truly awesome piece of work. I will be using it a lot
