DS-404 Error MSG

Hello,

I'm getting a error msg when i try to save a patch i'm working on for the last 1 1/2 days.

Fatal Error
Not enough memory for this operation.

followed by

File error
ERROR: File could not be saved.

I have 1Gb of RAM and 3.66Gb free space on hd. The task manager shows that i'm using only
about 1/2 of the available memory. The size of the samples in the patch is 216Mb altogether.
So what is the problem here?

btw. the DS-404 is a nice plugin, but fiddling with the alpha dial is a major pain in the arse,
it would be really cool to have a fine tweak mode when holding down the rightclick button
for example, or maybe the possibility to enter the desired values by hand.
C'mon MUON this shouldn't be that hard...

If you're on MacOS, you haven't allocated enough memory to your sequencer program. You need to do this manually, in Finder.

If you're on Windows then it is is still possible that you are running out of memory. If you are trying to use 216mb of samples, when you come to save the song DS404 will need to create a 216mb buffer of memory to hand over to the host program to save into the file. Due to a design flaw in the VST interface this buffer doesn't get instantly freed when the file is finished. If you are using autosave or something like that, this can reduce the amount of memory available. We've also noticed that the windows version of DS404, in certain circumstances can "leak" some memory during a file save. This will be fixed in the next version, right after Frankfurt.

Did you read the manual? all controls can be finely adjusted by holding down the shift-key whilst mousing.

Also thanks for the "RTFM"-hint. It's been some months ago as i went through the manual and i obviously didn't see it. Anyway, it's good to know there IS a fine tweak mode. The fact that there aren't many (none?) third party patches for the DS-404 made me think people are too pissed about the way the alpha dial works ( ).... I'll check that out.

There'll be more DS404 patches along soon, from us and others. We've also started badgering sample conversion tool developers to add DS404 support, feedback so far is looking very positive.
