HI folks,

Im into producing hard trance and im in search of a good routine for doing sampled dance drums.
I am now using cubase 4 and i love working in it, im just struggling to find a fast flexiable method of working with my drum samples where i can: quickly: add, delete, switch samples (like in FL which iv used for years) add eq and fx to different groups of drums and hopefully do so without having to load a new instance of a sampler for each individual drum sample.

Okay this is a better question: To any1 out there who dose anything in the dance genre in cubase could you let me know how you go about it?

I presume im gonna need a good sampler... was thinking about kontakt as it could handle all my other sampling needs but is it any good for doing drums...effeciantly?

Thanks very much for any help!!!

Doesn't Cuabse 4 come halion? Why not use that?

well it has "halion one". which appears to be cut down halion. You can only use the content they provide although i might be wrong.

That sucks...

I'd go for a specialized drum sampler.
On Windows, FXpansions DR-008 is still a great call (and a great deal), but Battery 3 might be worth looking at as well, IMO it's the best update NI has ever done. The mangling options are just fantastic, regardless whether you're working with individual hits or loops.
Not as fast to deal with as DR-008 though.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

I've done a lot of tarnce and techno, etc, and I like using Kontakt for drums. You can easily browse, swap out samples and split the samples into different Cubase outputs to apply compression, EQ, etc. Very flexible, plus you can use it for all your hits and samples too. :D

Battery is radically awesome too, obviously if drums are your focus, like Sascha said.
