Hi!

Here's something I've been working on over Thanksgiving. The second movement (that last part) is still under construction, but you get the idea.

It's entirely Miroslav Philharmonik, of course. :)

Post

great work! your weekend was quite productive. it's some of the best philharmonik demo work i've heard. you're good at picking your instruments and working with them.

i guess if i had any critique it would be that the overall sound is a little too clean to be real. a start could be adding something small like a room tone track and some of the orchestral noises included in the set.

other than that i guess some small midi programming tweaks could be in order but i'm sure you know what needs to be done more than i do ;)

Post

Excellent! No 'tweaking' necessary. This sounds fantastic and no friend of mine would ever be able to guess that it was 'midi' ! Top quality. This should be on the home page of eSoundz to show what Miroslav can do. Bravo, Mr. Tunes!

Quit your day job!

errr you mean Bravo Greg??? ;)

Greg, I'm going to need to study this - thanks for posting it :D I'm really impressed by the orchestration/composition, even moreso than I am with the overall work you've done on making it sound great (which it does).

You had better have years and years of experience or I'm going to feel terribly untalented that I haven't attained a level of skill able to compete with this yet :(. At least tell me that this took you hours and hours upon hours and hours to create - writing orchestral music (lotsa notes, eh?) is hard enough without contending with the intricacies of using samples and making them work together! Anyway, fantastic work, as if you're not aware.

Could I ask you a quick question? Are you using lots of layered patches here (e.g. fitting together different articulations/intonations within violins to try to get closer to the articulation you're looking for), or are you mostly sticking to using patches "as labeled", even if they initially don't sound like what you're looking for? I always pile up patch upon patch looking for that perfect sound, but this sounds amazing, so I'll continue to patch-smith if that's what you do, and if you don't, I'll stop, secure in the knowledge that great sound can emerge from imperfect patches.

Post

Fantastic work, is all i can say. Sounds like a hollywood piece.

Post

Great technique.
Great to listen to but not crazy about the finale.
You are definitely going places.

Post

I guess one way to learn this type of composition would be to listen to a hollywood piece, try to imitate it a couple of times (different tracks, that is), and then try doing something like that on our own.

Post

Yeah, the finale could be improved. Other than that, the piece is very enthusiastic and energetic. :)

Post

Yeah, the second movement is under construction. Which is why it currently is so boring. :)
