this would be purely for the creation of an audio sampler slicer and the most tricked out stable one would win of course, and in the end it would probably yeild alot of great instruments for the community.
I'm willing to put up $100 cash as prize money, what do you think?

yeah i've checked out Liveslice great app.
but this would be something great for all of the devs to get involved with, a slicer has the potential to be a very creative instrument and mold itself to the user which makes slicers special among instruments, plus there's room for more sample slicing ideas in this area so I think it would really be nice to have such a contest.

I know jorgens pretty busy, but he could probably just port a vst version of the xt slicer and call it a day, that dude can do anything, a truly inspiring developer.

I would like to see the next dev contest be more targeted towards sample manipulation. Enough with the synths.
"The Juno 60 was often incorrectly referred to as a synth. It is, in fact, a chorus unit with a synth attached." -PAK

I'm all for it.

its so funny...i JUST had an idea to try my hand at coding a beatslicer...but mine was gonna be for LINUX Vst (read: energy XT2 :p)
this contest will definitely open my mind to some ideas, seeing as how ive never coded a plug before...public consciousness at its best!

Yes! There is so much room in the vst market for plugs that would take this direction. I think we have VA synths covered by now.stale bread wrote:...but it wouldn't hurt a bit if the added synthesis features on the back in, imho there are some dope samplers like cronox that make good use of synthesis. its all in the direction, if they start with a dope sample slicer first and then go nuts with synthesis after that every single entry in the contest will be a classic.
