This thread will be to keep track of known issues and bugs in Cerebrum 3. I'll update this post to show all known issues and they're status. Please post any problems you run into here, the more I know about any problems, the sooner I can get them fixed.

ASIO Crackle
status:unknown
First issue has to do with a crackle on playback, it seems to be certain ASIO drivers, but I'm still not sure. ASIO4ALL and DirectX drivers work fine here, but I get a crackle when using my PhotonX25 interface (ASIO driver). The noise does not appear in recordings and supposedly can be fixed by adjusting the buffer rate, but this affects latency. If anyone else is having this problem I'd like to know.

Live Crashing
status:unknown
Second issue has to do with Ableton Live, a couple of people reported crashing when losding Cerebrum3 in Live6, but I've experienced no such problems. I'd also like to hear from Live users regarding this.

Jack,

I had already tested ASIO4ALL.

It runs ok with Edirol PCR-1 but it crackles with EMU0404.

Tested the demo yesterday
Ableton Live crash inserting cerebrum in a session that reach 40% of cpu power.
There are also crackles and pops running live with digidesign asio at a buffer size of 512(at 1024 goes better).
The CPU meter is 20-25% when live is in stop only with 1 instance of cerebrum
It seems a little bit CPU hungry.
Anyway i like it

Pentium4 3 ghz
Ableton Live
PTLE7
Digi 002

Post

If anyone who is experiencing crashing in Live would like to do some beta testing, please let me know. I wont be able to solve this issue alone because I cant get Live to crash.
Thanks.

I use an Audigy2 zs PCMCIA Soundcard. With Cerebrum 3.0 I had to take 20ms in the ASIO configuration to hear no crackeling. With Version 3.1 I can adjust the ASIO-Latency to 10ms. This is not so good but it's ok.!

It seems the more I get the cpu strain down, the less crackling. So hopefully I can get the cpu down more. I also notice that the fewer sequencers that are powered, the less crackle. I'm considering a lite version to be included with Cerebrum3. The lite version might have about 3 less sequencers and combine some of the internal sound modules with relavant synth modules...

a light version of cerebrum is a great idea! I'll wait for it day by day. regards

My projects in Cubase Sx3 take extra extra long to open (sometimes several minutes) when C3 is loaded as in instrument in the file.
A major cpu hog, too.
I do, however, love the machine and the way it sounds. Its just too heavy duty on my p4 3ghz to use very often.
I look forward to further streamlining updates so i can really get into making some patches for it.
A simplified version would be great, too.
peace
