Hello everybody, i hope i'm wirting in the correct section, well i love goa and psy-trace and i wanted to know if any of you can tell me how to create that nice hard-clean bass of the goa, or recomend me a good vsti that can create that, i use abletn live and i don't know if it's possible to create the bass with the synth that comes with it, i've tried to create the sound of the bass and i only get a rare bass that doesn't sounds really good, could anyone help me please

An example would help. However, I've got some good basslines just from using Simpler that comes with Live.

Anyway, post an example of the sound you wanna get.

Go check out vb-1. That will hook you up with very sweet basslines for goa. For Psy, check out bassline in the vst section. To hear what I came up with check out a few songs as that is all the use. www.mystic-vibes.com. Oh yeah, Dimension pro has some cool basses for both, you can manipulate pitch bends too!!

Try Voyager (freeware - http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=88748) and the Nolwenn Bank 01 (http://ann.sounds.free.fr/), preset: Instant bass. This could be what you are looking for.

I've been using Polyiblit a lot for it's superior oscillators, but above all good filter and especially envelope control... There is usually a very small sweet spot in any one synth you can find with correct filter/envelope settings.

This topic has been talked to death in many places, so hmm you'd better just try different things out and see what you can come up with.

Just remember that since the BPMs are way up, the nature of the bass has to come through in a very short time, so the ability to fine tune envelopes is important. I usually use one with slow decay and another one with a fast "snap", and then fiddle with these and amp/filter routing of them to make the bass nice and sharp. But then again, I'm no mega producer :P

And also remember to layer stuff, it's important to have something else than only bass frequencies for bass... Use some midrange and uppers too to create a presence.

grab the presets for synth1 i posted in this forum. there's a bunch of trance and far eastern patches. i've got 32 patches posted and i'll post 32 more tomorrow.

Anybody who wants to make a bassline in psytrance has to understand that it doesnt depend on the preset or the plugin - it is only about these factors which have to be fine-tuned together:

- note position
- note length
- note dynamic
- EQ on the bass

THe most important factors who differs between normal and professional psytrance baselines are "EQlizing and dynamic of the notes"
VB1 is perfect to start of, but Trilogy and CronoX3 brings perfect results.

Do sample it and use in sampler or do you just use virus? I have seen some peole recommend to always sample bass sounds when doing goa or psy.

Try the freeware VSTi KARMAFX Modular Synth. It has a bass preset called 'Psy-this' which is probably close to what you want. It will also teach you alot about synthesis too.

yes you can get good psytrance bass from karmafx, though my very favorite is Zebra 2...It's great for that funky morning saw sounding bass, even as gritty as that eskimo bass or similar styles.
