Haha. I am just working on some stuff for the NAMM show coming up... at 1 am (that's what it takes sometimes). But, this is going to be the coolest one I've ever done and I have been doing them for years. Some really fun surprises and... well, I can't really say but I am excited. I am looking at something right now that is just mind blowingly cool you won't believe it when you see it. But, you know how I am that's all I can say. I like rare finds, things you wouldn't otherwise be able to get... this sort of tops them all!

The StompIO? :)

Squids, are you more interrested in NAMM for software or for hardware?

Well, I was talking about the Sonic Reality booth mainly although the IK booth always has interesting stuff going on... not just the Stomp IO either. :o But, of course I can't say a thing there. On the Sonic Reality side we have something really juicy, rare and esoteric. Something handed to you on a silver platter that if I didn't get as lucky as I do sometimes and didn't push for something to be done a certain way so that musicians anywhere in the world could have a chance to... ok I better be quiet. But in two weeks all will be revealed! It's really cool though. Enough for Sonic Reality to have enlarged its booth to 3 times the size. It's big! Something that has never been done.

Anyway, as far as seeing other things besides doing the show (which takes up most of my time unfortunately), I personally like to go the other hall and look for funky world instruments. That's my favorite thing to check out. But, I also like to see what sort of new hardware and software there is too. Although for as long as I have been in this industry I can't walk two feet without recognizing someone and engaging in some conversation. It's hard for me to walk the show because of this. However I never recognize anyone and visa versa in the other hall plus it is like a big music store to me of rare unusual instruments. I almost always pick up something. Last year I bought the Moog Theremin (was in our Hall actually). It's beautiful. But the year before that I may have bought either a Duduk or a Hurdy Gurdy. You aren't supposed to buy anything but at the end of the show when they're packing up you can sometimes get a good deal if you have some cash.

More hints will come as we get closer to the show. It's not that far away. 3 weeks.

the new GMedia stuff......

There is absolutely nothing in the entire spectrum of music which I regard as "just mind blowingly cool you won't believe it when you see it". Therefore I summise this object must be some sort of alien artefact.

HI

I could imagine a real cool VSTI:

You launch the VSTI and get a rectangle GUI with a rendered 'human' who asks "who do you want to sing for you today?" - you then type in the name of the artist (the rendered human changes to represent that person) and you are all set to lay your vocal track ... you then input some basic info like; tempo sync, enebreated, screamer and such like - you then input the length of bars to sing along with and the key - VIOLA!

I agree; something 'mind blowing' would be nice, but hardly seems likely - although I am sure IK (or whoever)will deliver some 'nice' stuff!

Flipper.

An MP1.1 installer (that works) at IK? :P

Actually, I'm hoping NAMM won't be too good, cos I've been pigging out the past few months. I could stand a break from acquisitions...
