Anyone using Kristal Audio Engine?
I've made the switch from using MIDI-based instruments and am now focused on recording "real"
instruments; audio only. Is it stable? I've tried it and it looks promising as a no-nonsense host. What do you think of it?

I like it but it's not really designed for VSTi instruments. You can get them in there using CTAF's MultiFXVST and (I think) Acon Digital Media's EffectChainer (haven't tried it with that last one). Other than that, I like it.

he said he wanted to record "real" instruments, not VSTi...Newbie Brad wrote:I like it but it's not really designed for VSTi instruments. I like it but I always but a limiter on the main out because I tend to overload my mix! Plus the interface is very clean & I never had a crash so I guess we could say that it's stable. (volume envellope are cool too)

If required, energyXT fx vst version will let you sync and sequence midi in Kristal if need be.
How do I know? I tested it, but with old eXT version, while searching for a (free) non-dongled non c-r solution for use on multiple machines at different locations.
One oddity that I spotted with Kristal: if you install it on -say- home computer and then transfer it's program files to a movable media, the built-in equalizer won't open from it's channel strip slot, you must open it from one of the two remaining vst plugin slots ... which is quite limited.
