Hey guys, I did search before posting.

Whenever I increase a frequency, the rest of the frequency field is lowered, so I can never boost without subtracting something. Is there a manual for Nyquist somewhere?

Thanks
Cheers

no manual needed.

it's a kind of unfortunate non-standard default behaviour. It automatically "compensates" for the gain cuts and boosts.

You can turn it off with a host that allows access to the hidden gain compensation parameters (Cubase can do it at least). (I know, it's weird, and unnecessarily difficult)

Make a preset of that and load it every time you use nyquist. That way it works like a normal EQ.

It's one of the best sounding digital EQs in my opinion.

? how do you find these and make the preset ?

what does the host do?

it's a bit difficult thing to do so here's my default:

load it and you'll quickly notice the difference when adjusting the EQ. It's for the 5-band version obviously.

You can tweak hidden parameters with --- believe it or not --- Computer Muzys, if you have it somewhere. There are hidden different filter types in Niquist as well (IIRC which may be or may not be entirely true).

yes, and also with any other host that shows *all* VST parameters, usually through different types of automation set ups.

the only hidden parameters are the ones to do with the automatic gain compensation. everything else is shown on the gui.

seems to be true - types = Magnus A, Magnus B, and orfanidi.

If you use energyXT, all these hidden parameters can be accessed with a right-click on the plugin in the mixer, "Show Param"

Sure it's true: I remember playing with it.
THERE IS ALWAYS A WORKAROUND

??

wow, great to know they're there!

it's too bad magnus keeps these things quiet. is this in both 3-band and 5-band versions?

both (iirc)*

*due circumstances I was out of the computer music in 2006 regardless of fact that music is my registered profession.

I wish we could get an updated GUI showing these parameters. It's kind of fiddly as it as, which is a shame for such a nice plug.

yes and for all who want to know which parameter, it is the "compensation" of each band.
