here are some pictures of the inside of a MIDI controller including the velocity sensitive keyboard, CC controls, input output boards, etc etc
I would love some help about how to patch into the velocity sensitive keyboard so I can just put in drum pads and things like that.

A quick note on how most (if not every) synth action keyboard works. Notice in the first picture (velocity contacts) how there are 4 black contacts grouped together? Each set of two contacts (top and bottom) is one key. The velocity sensitivity comes from the diffence in time a key takes to hit 1 contact and then the other. That said, you'd have to convert a drum pad to trigger those to contacts at different times depending upon how hard it was hit.
