hi everyone!

i really need some help here. i am trying to recreate this bass sound but not having much luck. i currently use logic pro 7.1 and have the minimonsta AU plugin which i normally use for bass. this bass sound has a really nice warm/raspy feel to it but overal is a really nicely rounded bass. could someone please see if they can recreate this sound in logic 7.1 and let me know what settings etc are ised? many thanks in advance for any help!

Heheh...talk about a test for cheap at-work computer speakers (2-inch drivers)...

I'll give a PROPER listen when I get home (about 5 hours - I'm east coast US). This should be fun!

Thanks for giving this a go Leslie. I cant quite hear that where i am at the moment (i'll listen when i get home in a couple of hours). but from what i hear it is quite close.. something about it isnt quite right tho.. think its the tone. its a hard one to get right as have stuggled for years to get the right sound and i'm still searching. lol.

if you go to his myspace and listen to the track "like a fire" you can hear the bass as he messes with the cut off (it gives a clearer indication of what the bass sound is made of). http://myspace.com/toddedwards

you can hear the bass sound in "far away" too (beautiful song btw). i find when i use filter cutoff on sounds that are similar (like you hear on like a fire) they become quiet and muffled rather than rounded, warm and clear like todd creates. i am obviously missing something with this.

Oh, he's definitely using a square wave there. That's where the rounded sound comes from.

What synth/settings did you use for that demo Leslie? Still looking forward to hearing what AgonisThorn comes up with. I'm still struggling with this, been playing but nothing close enough

For "Like A Fire" it sounds like a square waveform with the cutoff turned down with a modest amount of resonance. When he starts fiddling with the cutoff, it sounds like he may be manipulating the resonance as well. My ears may be playing tricks on me, but I think I hear a tiny bit of glide in there, too. If it's there, it's very subtle.

Erm, this probably isn't much more than you already know. Not sure what synth to suggest. I'm still relatively new to VST softsynths.

How to create this bass sound.....?
