I highly recommend you stay away from the Behringer junk.

No it's not... Behringer has a very nice price/quality ratio, wouldn't call it junk by definition.where02190 wrote:stay away from the Behringer junk.

Hope this is helpful.

I guess your mileage will vary...I have a Behringer Eurorack and have had no problems. To the contrary, it's put up with my bull-shit quite well...and I'm like Caligula on my equipment.

The Behringer Xenyx is their rippoff cheapo version of the Mackie Onyx. Behringer is such a copycat they even tried to copy the name, a common tactic for them.
It's common industry knowledge that Behringer is bottom of the barrel junk, most of which is as close to design stealing as they can get without getting sued, and in a few cases too close. they have been sued for patent/design infringements more than once, and lost more than once as well.
Cheaply made from the shittiest parts money can barely buy, Behringer gear is built on the premise that it's more cost effective to build a POS and replace it when (not if) if fails than build something quality.
Spend your money on something that will last, not some POS that you'll need to run to GC with every month to get a new one.

Any word on Alesis:
http://www.zzounds.com/item--ALEMM6FX
I'm just looking for a board to connect all my studio stuff, dj setup, pc; and something with decent preamps and phantom pwr for my condenser mic.
Also i'd like it to have effects mainly to be able to send a little reverb to the headphones of my vocalist. Food for ego. If i attempt than through my daw it introduces too much latency...

Neither the Behringer or the Alesis can do this without the fx also going to the main outs, so you'd be recording the reverb.pascual wrote:Also i'd like it to have effects mainly to be able to send a little reverb to the headphones of my vocalist.
I'd recommend gettting a mixer and a separate fx unit, perhaps something used off Craigslist or e-bay. In fact, I'd recommend looking for both there, for the price you pay for a new mixer you can get a used one and a decent fx unit with a little shopping around.
Alesis makes a good quality product.
There's no comparison of the reliablity of Behringer and anything else.
Mackie has an excellent reputation for building good gear at reasonable cost.
Berhinger had an equal reputation for building cheap knockoff POS for cheap.
If you want cheap, and don't care if it falls apart in a month, get Behringer.
If you want reliable, buy anything else.
FYI, Mackie sued and won cases against Behringer for copyright infringement and design stealing more than once.

I had a Behringer 6 channel Eurorack and I thought it was great. But then I found I needed 12 channels and I bought a Mackie. What a difference in sound! The Mackie has it all over the Eurorack. But maybe the Behringer's have caught up to the Mackies with the Xenyx.

With faders you have better visuak feedback which channels are set louder than the others. Technically speaking standard pots have a higher life expectancy (not that important these days where hardware is disposed of before it's beyond repair)

Good and Behringer are not interchangable.
You'll need a separate phono preamp no matter what mixer you choose, they don't have pres for turntables typically.
