Midi plugin wanted: "Keyboard hold function"

Hello folks,
I wonder if there's a midi plugin around that would do this:
On Roland E-series boards it was called "hold", on some arpeggiators "latch".
Basically, when you hit a key (or a chord), it is held (like with a sustain) after you release the keys .. until you hit the next key/chord: then the old key/chord is released and the new one sounds until you hit the third, and so on and so on.
Any suggestions highly appreciated!
Cheers Matt

Have a look at MultiChannelKeyRange by J. It's a virtual keyboard and you can hold notes with it by right-clicking before you release the left-click which plays the note.

Do you mean a MIDI plug-in that will hold the arp or note on for a virtual synth plug-in to continue receiving note on, or do you mean a virtual synth with this capability built in?
Camel Audio's Alchemy has the ability to continuously hold a triggered arp, and in addition to latch mode has an add mode where each successive note will add to the current notes of the arp. It's a pretty cool feature! We will be releasing an updated demo in a day or two. Check it out!!
Peace,
Andy.

Hi, thanks for the answers!
I tried different Midi-FX-Tools yesterday. But non of them does exactly serve the purpose I was searchin for!
Every Plugin holds the note but doesent release it if I play the next note!
The Plugin should only hold the note played for the VST-Synthi till such time as I play the next note! Then the old played note should stop and the next note should be played!
The Plugin should work like a virtual sustain pedal...
And I don't search an arp plugin! Althouhg I like the standford Arpeggiator...ist fantastic, so thanks for this one

This will probably be no help, but seems like a perfect application for AZ Audios midi script tool?

u could use Usine for that job too. i've done a midi note closer module that has an input pin to manually close all held notes. then u'd have to do a patch where a midi note On triggers this input pin. plus u'd have to set a minimum note delay (like 20ms) coz u want to hold chords. plus u have to check the note buffer is not empty (otherwise every note will be closed instantly)
not quite easy if u dont know Usine
i could offer to write a Usine script module for this (sadly not b4 end of next week), if u want.

Basically, if I am understanding correctly, you are after a midi plugin that would make it possible to play any synth in legato mode.
If I was you I'd make a request for such a plugin in the energy-xt subforum where most of the midi plugin devs are generally posting.

seems the need wasnt that dramatic
however, i finished a script in Usine that does the expected.

errrr.. the free usine version would do it but u have to buy Usine to dl addons. PM if wanted..

works differently, + similar to insertpizhere's plugin: the note is closed only if the same note is received.allofdrab wrote:Bidule has a MIDI Note Latch and MIDI CC Latch.
differences:
- the script closes a note or chord when an arbitrary next note/chord is received
- also adresses chords
- switching on/off does not cause hanging notes
however, i'd see a use for my script if u want to tweak a synth and get ur fingers off the keyboard.

+1 for this. This could help in my search for a Chord-scanning MIDI trigger. (ie: Pressing a single note would read a series of pre-written chords.)
..though since I'm learning how to program something, I mighth ave a look at the MIDI scripting thingamajig.
