Hi guys,
looking at smaplers/drum machines/sequencers to make music with heavily processed acoustic/digital sounds for rhythm and melody.
Ableton Live seems a great tool to make beats with unusual sounds (as in its easy to manipulate sounds). Dont know though if there are also sound generators in this programme. I use Reason at the moment and would like to mess about with synths/samples/audio recordings then use them for rhythm or melody but dont like interface/manipulation processes of reason.
Possible to do this in Ableton? Specifically creating melodies.
Also would it be possible to feed reason into ableton only to record a sound which i could then use for either beat or to make instrument in ableton (as in get an entire octave out of that sound)
Maybe a little messy this question. Would be great if anyone could help.
Cheerio

You can "rewire" Reason directly into Ableton live, which among other things means you can use Live to capture audio straight out of Reason into a clip.
You can also drive Reason instruments from Live, so you can sequence midi (and use the arpgeggiator and other tools) from Ableton into Reason, which is very useful.
It's a very good combination because you can have the best of both worlds, and it gives you a way to use Reason and VSTs together

+1 to what polybeep said, elephant.
also- yes, Ableton does provide you with native generators, too [since v4, I think...]("simpler",which is an uncomplicated, but powerful little sampler and "impulse", which is a sample based drum machine instrument) you really should download the demo version of Live to get a feel for it, but again- I completely agree with polybeep: the combination of Reason and Live will be a very powerful step for you (especially if you already know your way around Reason
oh- and FWIW, for me- Live is the way to manipulate samples
