Does anyone know if you can drive one of these bad boys with just a mic preamp rather than a guitar amp head.Or will this make it blow up

A mic preamp doesn't work. That only amplifies the mic signal (milliVolts, milliAmperes, drive impedance of some thousands Ohm) to line level (one Volt, milliAmperes, drive impedance of some hundreds Ohm)
A TalkBox usually gets connected to the speaker output of a 50W guitar amp (several Volts, several Amperes, drive impedance of 4 to 16 Ohm)
Nothing will break, it just doesn't work. Maybe you'll get a very faint sound out of it... Better chances if you connect the mic preamp to a standard hifi amp and connect one speaker output to the TalkBox.
Oh, and you'll have to use another mic to pick up the sound coming out of the tube in your mouth (connected to another mic preamp, etc etc) in case you didn't know... It's not exactly like a normal stomp box effects pedal.
