Hi,
Another twisted pop song. Words and vocals by my talented sister. I think I went a bit over the top with this one.
Undone.

Pander to my likings
Spit our your disdain
Butter me up slowly
To bring me down again
f**k I'm undone
It's begun
It's begun
You turned it
You turned it on
Burning sensitivity
Numbing your senses
Pleasure defenceless
Squeeze me out of this
You got me into this
Let me out of this
Now it's begun
-Kim.

Definitely a little bit OTT, but it works, Kim
I'll have a more in-depth listen later, but you and your sister really do make a good "team"!

Back
Yeah, great stuff. I really enjoyed reading the production diary too and was very much interested in how you put it all together.
There are so many elements in this that really make a difference - subtle things that are really worth listening out for and learning from (especially some of the vox snippet manipulations). It's the sum of the whole which makes it, definitely.
One mixing note for me is on the lower strings - which I reckon get a bit lost, but that might just be me and my prediliction for strings
And as for your sister's voice - I don't care that Melodyne's involved. Her voice has tremendous character in itself
I think I'll just agree with jackson's comment in summary
If this and Horse Head aren't worthy of a label release then I think I'll just give up on music right now and would urge everyone else to do the same

It's a tough balance. If I bring up the cellos and basses they start to take focus away from the vocal. If I reduce other elements to bring out their clarity, I lose the guitars and distorted synths.Gargoyle wrote:One mixing note for me is on the lower strings - which I reckon get a bit lost, but that might just be me and my prediliction for strings
I'm still not sure about the strings. I might have preferred it without - keeping the second and third choruses rough and harsh like the first one.
Oh well, there's always next time.
-Kim.

Your sister really sounds like Bjoerk, and the music fits perfectly

Another cool track. It rocks alright! My only concern is the mix isn't very clean in parts. I can't put my finger on what's causing it though, with so much going on at once. I know it's supposed to be rough and dirty but there's something not right about the mix. The song is cool though; I don't think you should give up on it until the mix is right. It's a good piece.
