Livecut is Buggy

Posted this on the livecut site, would like to see it addressed by programmers but does anyone else have any suggestions:
I've not seen anyone mention the worst bug I repeatedly encounter which is currently the bane of my musical creativity - it simple stops outputting audio or outputs in very spuradic, short segments, this is not always the case but more often than not it is - atleast when I reload a track it seems, usually not during the original creation, I have tried all the following things but not been able to resolve the issuse and I hardly see how your anywhere near an alpha with this issuse in place:
A)Changing settings in the VST
B)Reloading the plug-in in the sequencer
C)Lowering audio buffers
D)Adding it to a different point in the sequence - if there are multiple instances running they all behave in this manner and seem to output audio in the same spuradic 2-3 times every 8 bars sorta fashion
E)Deleting & Reinstalling the .dll (This includs deleting any intial registry entries and other files which reference it)
F)Replacing 0.8 with 0.9 - issuse is the same in both of them

that's because of the nature of the plug.. as it uses a buffer, this buffer is empty first when you reload a project. the best you can do (anyway) is to bounce parts as audio, that way you can choose what parts you really want and the tracks sound exactly the same after reloading.freq999 wrote:atleast when I reload a track it seems, usually not during the original creation

That'd be ok if the issuse were as simple as the audio being played back different but it's actually not outputting any sound a majority of the time when it glitches but occassionally has a moment where it does play through very breifly (like 2 steps in 16t if even that) it's literally stopping the sound completely in most cases however and instantly outputs the unprocessed track without error when the plug-in is disabled...it's like it kills the buffer it's trying to use instantly most of the time, when it works though I do thoroughly enjoy it so I'm quite torn

hey freq999, as you don't accept PMs i have to reply here
you also could try the energyXT demo, small and stable and if it works better, you could grab a license (which is cheap) and use the eXT VST version inside fl.

i have no experience with fl, but iirc i read that there are some options regarding temposync, perhaps you should check if something there works better for you.freq999 wrote:inresponse to the livecut thread
Could be the host, I haven't tried to duplicate it elsewhere - I use FLstudio on winxp, I may try to take video of it using snagit if it helps. Often times upon loading a track it runs for like say 20 bars then it begins crashing, it's nothing to do with my system specs as far as I know, I run a 2.1ghz Dual core Vaio Laptop and AMD 2800+ XP desktop - it occurs the same on both in that host, might try replicating the issuse with renoise or audiomulch if I get a chance later today

I'm having the exact same issue with 0.9 on OS X running on powerbook G4. Ironically, it happens randomly. Thanks for the awesome plugin!freq999 wrote:That'd be ok if the issuse were as simple as the audio being played back different but it's actually not outputting any sound a majority of the time when it glitches but occassionally has a moment where it does play through very breifly (like 2 steps in 16t if even that) it's literally stopping the sound completely in most cases however and instantly outputs the unprocessed track without error when the plug-in is disabled...it's like it kills the buffer it's trying to use instantly most of the time, when it works though I do thoroughly enjoy it so I'm quite torn

yes syncing tightly to the host timeline, not just tempo but beats / measures, tempo fluctuations song position jumps, etc... it's like making rodeo.
I've made some changes that greatly reduce those kinds of problems. And I've added a display of what is happening internally in order to visualise what's happening behind the scene.

To give an example, one kind of error that can lost livecut 0.9 and 0.8 definitively is to change the subdiv parameter at a bad moment and it never manages to finish its phrase. So I've decided to push the real update of some of these parameters to the next phrase start or to the next bar in the same way that Live wait for a bar start to play a sample for example.

...yeah, LiveCut rocks. For sure. BTW, after i had a fatal crashing on my DAW (but NOT because of LiveCut) my Debugger pops up. After searching a while, I've found several "smartelectronix"-controls (such as Sliders, Knobs and so on) which definitively are NOT used in LiveCut (but they are embedded in the code). I've looked in the LiveCut.dll with Resource Hacker and found several unused bitmaps. After removing them, LiveCuts size drops from about 2,3 MB to 550 kb... Funny, eh?
Still can't wait for V1.0 (and I would pay for it, for sure)...
Best regards
