OK so I may be mad but I love the sound of my Zoom effects box and somehow, I would like to use that as an aux send in conjunction with my soundcard (so my mix goes out of the soundcard, through the effects box and then back into the soundcard) without creating a feedback loop.
I currently use a Yamaha SW1000XG and I feel it's time for a soundcard upgrade anyway, so is there a soundcard which will allow me to do what I want to do?
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

The only thing you need look for is more than 2 ins and outs. You'll need at least 4. The rest of it is handeled by the host. So it's more dependent on the host than the soundcard as long as the soundcard has enough IOs.

Well I currently use an elderly Yamaha SW1000XG! I use it with Sonar 6 Producer Ed and I'm looking to upgrade to a 64 bit system. What soundcard would you recommend bearing in mind the i/o and 64bit?

ANY soundcard with 4 or more independant mono outputs and proper (Vista / WinXP64) drivers will work...

I've been looking at the m-audio range of soundcards - are they any good?

Yep, M-Audio is well respected. E.g. the Delta44 or Delta1010 would work fine.
If you have other requirements (mic or Hi-Z guitar inputs, headphone outputs) then now is the time to fix it all.

I used to have M-Audio Delta44 and I think it's a very good card with great drivers too. If you don't need anything else regarding inputs and outputs go get it.
Beware though, no Vista drivers yet.

Hmm...just had a look at the m-audio site, al looks pretty good BUT where are the MIDI inputs? I was hoping to use my Yamaha DD-55 drum machine with it.

What about the Audiophile 192?

The Audiophile 192 has only one pair analog inputs/outputs. To use the extra outputs (e.g. monitoring to hear what you're doing) you need for instance monitor speakers or a receiver with digital S/PDIF inputs.
The Delta44 indeed doesn't have any Midi I/O, but the Delta1010 does.
The midi ports on the AP192 are on the breakout cable (the 5-pole DIN plugs)
If I can make a recommendation: ESI ESP 1010 or the Audiotrak Maya1010. About the same price of the Delta1010. Features mic inputs and headphone outputs and Midi I/O. No Hi-Z guitar input, but nevertheless I've done some good guitar recordings using the line input and put the gain at +20dB.

Is there nothing similar to the Delta 44 with MIDI i/o? I don't really need that many audio i/o.
Or would I be better getting a Delta 44 and buying a MIDI-to-USB2.0 connector for my drum machine?
