Does anyone know how to make that falling then decaying sound of an aliased sine wave?

One song I know that uses it is TaQ - era (from DDR or beatmania) though I've heard it elsewhere such as ads and stuff.

umm, slow an 808 kick down? is that it?

What would be the difference of ringmod to Frequency Modulation? I still don't quite understand the mechanics in order to being able to achieve that particular sound.

Frequency modulation is when an oscillator is modulating the pitch of another oscillator.

Ring modultion is when the signal from two oscillators are multiplied creating frequencies at the sum and difference.

To create the effect you are talking about (in the most basic form), you need two oscillators. Turn up the ring mod, and then modulate the pitch of the second oscillator with an LFO, envelope, or just by twisting the pitch knob of OSC 2.
