.....When you are in the middle of writing THAT new preset, when its sounding like a hit maker........BACK....THAT.....f**ker.....UP!!!!!!



Here I was, I had been writing presets in synthmaster and this one in particular that I had spent the past 45min-hour tweakinf was sounding HUGE.

A squeley wobble patch monsta with a great aftertouch that I will never be able to reanimate.
In fact I doubt I will ever be able to get that same sound.

Here I was thinking that I better give my ears a change and come back to it. So I went to Myspace to check out the local breaks & peices before I went back to validate and check out how it still sounded.....then BANG! It must have been some clowns stacked out page.

Anyone else had this happen to them? must have..

Just yesterday, while recording some sounds in xt2, in fact.
I bet it's the dodgy plugin i used, but it was sounding so good, i thought the slowness of the gui would be fine next time i'd open it, and now it's a goner

Mainly because of the new learning curve I'm experiencing with synthmaster.

also, when you make something you think sounds amazing... then you think.. it jus needs tweaking lil bit here, no, actually lil bit theier.. next minute youve completely lost it.. and its too late to get back to the sound that you loved in the first place

I was actually thinking of making backups yesterday and guess what i did'nt

Today my whole hardrive got wiped out and i have to use the active undelete to recover lost files and it just takes forever and i was lucky that i managed to get a few files working (Not sure about my presets yet since i am still doing recovery of the deleted harddrive).

I have a few 1.year old backups so i won't need to download everything, but all my songs made in Sonar are lost, all my Song made in EXT is lost, My preset bank for Blue is corrupted

So when i get everything up and running today or tomorow i will do a backup

Using a different file name each time... or every five, ten minutes maybe.

Dayl, I've done entire pro-sounds releases and then accidently lost them for one reason or another. Backing up has become essential at least once a week.

I learned that the hard way mangling a .wav sample in a k2000RS, it was for me, THE most awesome noise loop for a minimal techno track. Well you can guess the rest, it's gone. I been inspired to make some new patches with my Electron vsti and save almost every tweak cause the more you just tweak one singular sound, say for an hour, you can come up with maybe 20 or 30 patches and every 10th patch can sometimes be part of a collection. I'll up some Electron patches sometime when I get a bunch I feel might be of use to others.
