When slapping a string on the bass guitar, you are using your thumb to strike the string. In this soundset, your thumb is parallel with the string. This allows you to hit the string with your thumb, and then pluck it with your thumb on the way back up.Tellfit wrote:Hello

Watch Victor Wooten explain it:
What happens when you mute a string is that you are not actually fretting a note, but just letting your hand that would normally fret notes rest gently on the string. So an actual pitch is not sounding, but a percussive noise. Try writing a bassline, and then replacing some of the notes with these "mutes".Tellfit wrote: 2) what is the difference between string mute :

Most all slap styles I've seen are either perpendicular or parallel. There is a style where you tap the strings with all your fingers to reproduce a slap sound, but it's pretty uncommon.Tellfit wrote: 3) in real playing bass slap
