Hello ladies and gentlemen.

I'm intending to by a computer to make music the whole day.
Need some help.
The budget I have is very low, lets say 250 €.
What do I need as hardware to set up a complete system including a midi keyboard and some useful headphones, to make music in a good quality.
What do you think, is it possible to get something that works good for this price?

I have a friend who works in the business of computer and so an he wants to set something together for me an he needs a list of what to put together to make me an offer.

Any help possible?

Thanks for your help.

Classic.

You basically need a soundcard. If you're starting out, you can't go wrong with an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 - PCI based card, with a stereo input and a stereo output.

You'll need some kind of mixer to use as a volume control for your headphones. Headphones are quite expensive though if you want a good pair. These three things, well, I wouldn't be surprised if that was at least half of your budge gone already.

I'd seriously recommend ebay as a source. You can pick up a g4 tower from about £75 now. Admittedly not the most powerful system anymore, but still effective and within budget, and a good starting point maybe.
I also recommend the audiophile 24/96 they're good cards, I have one. They retail for about £50 brand spanking new so you may be able to get one quite cheap if you look around.

I think a lot can be done with old computers. All this processing power is not necessary . Convinient yes , necessary no
