Hey, check this out lads and ladies. Its a short montage for a library that I might be putting out in the near future:

It is a dance library, but not specifically themed. I get sick of these '200 trance kicks, 100 trance claps etc' type libraries. They are ten to a penny. So for this one I thought I would make a '100% Tee Boy' library! Its has thousands of loops, loads of drums, probably some multisampled instruments and basses, fx... but they are all the kind of things that I like in dance music. Its my taste in dance music.
So you have some loops that are really techy. Some that sounds more like late 90's trance. Some that sound like vinyl'y house music. And then there are many that transcend classification and can be used however the user wishes.
Basically, my hope for this library was for people to have a collection of 'record ready' loops and sounds that they could mix and match with ease. You fancy a housey beat for your trance tune? Cool, go for it. You want some tribal techno percussion in your progressive house? Just grab a loop and make it happen! If you want to make cliche tracks, then that can happen too. But what I really want is for people to be able easily mix and match styles to develop their own types of dance music.
Anyway, I made a little montage with just loops from the 140bpm section. Id really love to hear what you guys think. Perhaps I have got it very wrong - maybe people want nichey formulaic stuff. Atleast that way they know they're getting 100% what they want, right?
But what Id like is to get back to making libraries that reflect the producer and their particular creative and artistic inclinations. Almost as if to buy my library is to have MY sound design on your tracks, rather than some characterless collection of 'by the numbers' samples. Iv been thinking for ages about how cool it would be if we could get back to that. Its almost like collaboration!
So I figured Id put my money where my mouth is and make one! Now dont get me wrong, some of the loops could be fresh out of niche tracks. Iv not gone for anything to out there. But I think that I have created a collection of sounds that reflect me and my long standing interest in dance music.
Oh, and ofcourse, if anyone likes what they hear then feel free to contact me! Id love to collab on some new dance music ideas. I think that there are so many areas that we could take dance music. Particularly with respect to developing the ORIGINAL concepts of trance, ie, classical harmonic progressions and figurations with synthetic and sampled timbres, underlying techno and house style beats. There are so many areas for experimentation.
Ok, enough rabbling...
I look forward to hearing what you guys think and any questions you may have about this library or what Im doing right now.

Yep, LOADS of drums. Upward of 2000 loops.
Possibly synths aswell. If my dev wants to make it into a VST instrument, then its possible there will be multimsampled instruments. It its a sample CD, then probably not.
I havent got the thumbs up yet on this one, so Im not sure about formats or release details just yet.
But I wanted to show you guys none the less as Im optimistic that this could be a really cool dance library!

Iv been meaning to get serious about C++ for a couple of years now - just never got time. I did some Csound and a tiny bit of VB. Didnt get much further than that.

hey - this is very generic, 1999 sounding - it sounds just like my old house sample cd's there's nothing new whatsoever with this...plus the samples have way to much reverb an sounds waaay to "Reason'y"

Actually, Iv heard your music Snooky. Many loops on this CD would fit into your tracks a charm. Though I can that a professional trancer like yourself might prefer to program your own loops.
That said, I find your critique a little harsh. I have intentially made some of the loops sound like 90's house and trance... I like that music! But that is NOT the bulk of library.
Your critique on reverb is also highly unfoundered. Iv experimented ALOT with reverb in this collection of loops. Many of the techno loops have longer reverbs to push things back in the mix, having compressors attenuated it on strong beats. But for the closer up front sounds, Iv opted for dry or very short room reverberation.
The samples sound Reason'y? I wasnt aware that Reason even had a sound? Thought if you're talking about the Reason Redrum library, Im not sure how that is possible given that the set was not used on this library! The samples all came from my personal collection that Iv been building upon for years.
But as always, I welcome suggestions. If you could point me to some tracks that you think have cool sounding beats, then Id appreciate it greatly.

Actually I'm more interested in the single hits of the loops (especially the tribal typish ones), but maybe my brain is just not creative enough to do that myself with all those Rolands and Yamaha Drum Machines out there (and I have a AKAI Collection that was once available with around 80+ Drummachines).
Not to threat you, but in the section House and Trance, it's clearly Vengeance Essentials Club Vol 1 and 2, and Vengeance Essentials House. And if that's still not enough, buy some back issues of the german BEAT Magazine, where there're tons of loops on there, too. Just not in REX format.
Futhermore... what price is this "pack" aimed at? If it's more expensive than 70USD, then sorry but I have to say "thanks, but no thanks" as I have most of that stuff already covered with other CDs.

Just because others have done something similar, doesnt mean u cant do it as well. Also, i for one can hear the TB-sound in everything from you, and i love it. Thats enough reasons to keep at it imo.
