Looking for a portable multitrack recorder, I keep coming back to this unit BUT I'm usually leary of equipement with unpublished or hard to find spec (and I can't seem to find the spec at all for this unit). OTOH, it has enough in/out for my needs, the price is right, is fast to setup and take down and seems easy enough to use.
Anybody here has real world experience with this unit and would like to comment, or maybe has another option with same number of input and same price bracket to suggest?
Thanks.

I need something portable to record jam session. My DAW is anything but portable... Although I will probably transfer to computer for mixing (unless I find it easier to do right on the unit, I have no experience with such units).
Should add that I've also looked at the Yamaha AW1600 but my experience with Yamaha OS is that they don't wire it like my brain is and found every product of theirs that I've ever used incredibly hard to comprehend and use.
Also looked at the KORG's D3200 (more tracks, same price bracket as the Boss), but found a lot of peoples with reliability issues.
Open to comments in both case also, or for other options which I might not know about.

gotcha..well yeah, the BR-1600 is a solid option..We used it as our main squeeze for a jam band I was in about 2 yrs ago. IMO, they're a bit expensive. You might wanna check out some of the assorted used roland VS recording studios. You can probably get these for even cheaper then the br-1600 and they have a whole lot more substance to them. Some of the newer roland VS's have the usb input too for pc transferring convenience.
