Air pressure and other space sounds?

In Sci-fi movies sometimes they have some crazy industrial machines and devices which are air-pressure powered.
Now, the sound of a door which opens in a spaceship is a good example of what I'm trying to emulate.
That sizzling sharp airy sound of where you also hear like a very soft pitched up whizzle is what I'm after.

I know I should probably be bothering with some white noise oscillator going thru a highpass filter with some resonance modulated by an envelope, lfo's and what else.
But I haven't found the right settings yet.


Sound number 2 is that of a knife flying thru the air where the air actually resonates by the knife's blade.
It should be something like a long shoooooooooof sound with a high tingle sharp accent:-)

Does anyone have any idea of how to those sounds?

Hyrolics my friend. I got a sweet little sample of the boot of my car! Also one off the brakes on a bus.

But you find some industrial machines have fantastic sounds! You just need to be there with a field rig (thats the tricky part).

Hp filtering noise with a bit of rez might get you close.

These sounds are both synthesised with filter sweeps, pick a vst synth with a noise oscilator (synth1 is a good freebie for this).
Make a constant noisy sound, play a short blast and automate the filtercut off from hi to low or low to hi over the duration of the sound. Experiment with the sound and filter types and you'll soon be whooshing as swishing like a good un.
