Hello,

I've uploaded some clips of minimal/tech tracks i find very interesting.
They contain some sounds i've been trying to recreate with different sorts of vsts lately.
For example : korg set/nexus/hypersonic/minimoog... in combination with trash/predat-ohm, quadrafuzz...
Unfortunately, i don't seem to get it right...
If anyone could help me out recreating one of these type of sounds, would be great. Or if anyone has a patch of a vst instrument or effect to send me, even better

for #1. dont distort your synth plug at all, use 2 saw osc's and detune them, then sweep a lpf w low resonance settings. you can either use an envelope to control your lpf, set a slower attack to get that swell, or better yet assign a knob to your filter cuttoff and record automation of the knob tweaking, you can always go back and edit the automation to get it as tight rythmically as you want.

#2 are you talking about the bass? or the pad thing that follows?

#3 requires no distortion plugs either, its similar to #1, but adds a noise oscillator to the detuned saw waves, same lpfilter trick applies, but in this one a sine lfo modulates filter cutoff

dude. all of these sounds can be created w/ just about any analouge VSTi. if your looking for free ones start w Synth 1, it's a staple for me.

and i never claimed it wasn't possible, just said i didn't succeed... but as you can see i was looking in the wrong place! Thanks for the tip!

Nexus and hypersonic are not what you want to use for making these sounds. Stick with simple VA synths for creating stuff like this. Even the korg stuff can be way too complex for this kind of stuff, and it will just get in the way. Do what chaseDESTROY says and download synth1. You will find it much easier to program this kind of stuff with synth1. Then start reading up on subtractive synthesis. Learning some basics will help out a lot.

Distortion is not a bad thing, if it sounds good then use it. If its not the standard way in the genre and you like it that way then blend the two.

thx a lot to chaseDESTROY for the patches... i'll check em out today! Gonna grab me that book on sounddesign aswell I think... i never seem to be satisfied with the temp patches on my vst's! but i guess that's normal...
