Ive been having an Edirol UA-25 USB sound card for almost a week now. So far I know nothing about recording electric guitars. Is it possible to plug in an electric guitar straight into my UA25 and use amplitube as an amp sim in my computer ?

Does it have a dedicated "instrument" input?

Well, the XLR jacks also accept standard 1/4" guitar plugs. It says so on the site, so it should be clearly stated in your manual:

"Hi-Z" is high impedance: guitar!

You just plug the guitar into the Input 2/R jack, press the Hi-Z button next to it, and that's basically it.

Have a look at the front of your UA-25:

Can you see the input labelled "Input 2/R"?
It's next to the one labelled "Input 1/L"...

"Jack" is short for the connection hole to insert the plug into:
