hi there haven't been on this site forever I use to come here when i was first starting out. Well i really need help. I'm new to hardware so any assistance will be great. i did most of the research now the hard part is finding what cables are needed to hook em up. Everything except the turntable and the cable is being on its way hear.
1)MPC 2000xl
2)Behringer-Xenyx-1002(mixer)
3)Behringer Microphono PP400 Phono Preamp
4)one turntable for sampling (trying to buy a cheap one preferable a thrift store one.
5)a good cartridge - is there any place online with universal cartridge? Thanks.
So what cables would i need to hook this up. You will forever have my gratitude. Thank you.

Shielded line level cables, balanced if both input and output are balanced, unbalanced if not.

It depends if they're 1/4" or RCA outputs/inputs, too.
That phono thing is RCA in only, so you need one of those cables. And probably a converter from 1/8"-1/4" jack (for the end plugging to other gear- depending on what it's going to etc). And the mixers main outs are 1/4" but you have the option of using the 2 track out as RCA. I'd go 1/4" if you can, but you have the option anyway if you can't get 1/4" cables (dunno why you wouldn't be able to, though).
The sampler takes 1/4", too. And, finally, a cheap turntable will probably have RCA, too. Mine does. It's really REALLY shitty. But you can buy RCA-1/4" converters, too.
PS I just googled Behringer and got to the site and looked at the spec sheets for this.

You'll need to connect the TT grounds to the mixer.

MPC 2000xl has 8 outs optional. If you don't have the option then you only have 2 outs (left and right). It only has 2 inputs as well. (left and right)
The Akai MPC2000xl has 1/4" (quarter inch) outputs and inputs. The 8 output option has unbalanced TS (tip sleeve) cables. They look like guitar cables with ONE BLACK STRIPE near the tip. The main outs of the MPC2000xl (stereo out l/r) are BALANCED. These would take TRS (tip ring sleeve) cables. The have TWO BLACK STRIPES near the tip. Again, looks like a guitar cable, but with two stripes, not one.
You may use unbalanced TS 1/4" cables for the main stereo outs.
But it depends on what you are doing. If you want to plug the MPC into the mixer, then you can plug the MPC's 8 outs into the mixer's 8 ins using unbalanced (TS) 1/4" cables. If you don't have the 8 out option for your MPC then you just need 2 balanced(TRS) or unbalanced(TS) 1/4" cables, it doesn't matter.
As for sampling, just plug the phono preamp straight into the MPC using a pair of male RCA to TS 1/4" cable.
If you wanted to go the other way around, you can do that too.
You could plug the mixer into the sampler by using the same 2 male RCA to TS 1/4" cables, plugging from the mixer's RCA outs to the MPC ins. The mixer also has 1/4" outs which you could use instead, but you would need a 2 plain TS 1/4" cables instead. (the one that looks like a guitar cable)
Then you would plug the phono preamp into the mixer using a regular stereo RCA cable to the "tape in" input.
Now you can also plug other instruments or microphones into the mixer and everything feeds into the MPC.
Just remember that guitar cables LOOK like regular TS 1/4" patch cables, but they are usually made for guitar tone and are not the best suited to use for patching samplers.
monster cable and mogami are some of the best (and most expensive) cables you can get. Also, there is George L. cheap cables work, and they still make great sounding music. Especially since you are running everything through a modest beringher board with a cheap phono who cares what brand you get. But in my experience, I can really hear the difference between high end cables and radio shack cables. Plus they don't start to hiss and hum on me.
Shorter lengths of cable sound better and are less susceptible to hiss/hum but don't get them too short or you will be crammed in your studio! ;P
I hope this helps.

I'm not a boy and I take offense to being called one. You're probably a boy and you can go and stick your willy in a power socket.

A) Read manual. They tell you what the holes are.
B) Look at holes. Most have labels.
C) Go to a music store, Radio Shack or online catalog and order.
Learn to do things yourself....

Don't buy your cables at Radio Shack, and don't fall for the high priced Monster Cable hype. Go to a reputable music store or build them yourself, the latter being my recommendation.
