Ok so I'm trying to figure out if there is a simple MIDI note recorder VST that I can use for pseudo multi take loop recording (as you supposedly can't do this in eXT 1.4)..
DarkStar wrote:This (multi-take MIDI recording) has been requested as an FR for eXT several times.
Basically I would love it if eXT could record within loop locators and when it reached the end of the locators it bumped down to another track and keep recording, so on and so on..

So for the plugin.. it would have to sync to tempo and be able to be triggered by the Host's start stop clock and maybe a record length (x bars/beats etc). Now before you say why don't you just use a second sequencer, another issue is that I have to consolidate screen space.

AFAIK there is a VST MIDI player ImageFound it here...
If this just has a record button and the ability to enter the length in beats/bars it would be perfect!

Let me know if theres anything like this please or how hard it would be to put together.

Is it just me or is it so time for a really good official MIDI Note (not cc) recorder/player/buffer like VST?
An all in one plugin that allows for a MIDI loop sequence to be sync recorded then playback from a timed buffer. Then in the same plugin instance you could go to the next 'track' with assigable input channel and record the next piece for x amount of bars which would loop with the 1st track and on to the next track and so on. When recording takes, each 'track' could have a kick or keep function so if you did not like what you recorded you could boot what you've done and rerecord that track to perfection (maybe even some type of auto/manual quantize/groove function). It could also have cc controllable track on/off so the sequences could be arranged or a grid to make a longer sequence.

Something like this would be a great addition for an already amazing host like eXT. I dunno I just think this could make recording a joy instead of a bloody task and keep the workflow.. well.. flowing... What do you think?

I really like your ideas!

CC-switchable recording modes (add, replace, overdub) and stacked MIDI recording could do the trick, no?

.jon Yea that would be good. Plus the optional ability to bump down to the next track every loop would be great!
