Anyone got any tips for making your own sound library's?

Might sound like a stupid question but I'm wondering if people have any hints/tips to making your own personal sound library's. I have been saving my own samples and loops for years and more recently got into using kontakt/battery for creating my own instruments and drums. I tend to only do this as im working on a track but would much rather have a large library of my own sounds to call up.

What would people recommend for recording hardware synths in? I've heard of programs that can do it for you (sample robot, I think) or do people tend to just record one note per octave and stretch it across in their sampler?

I feel this is a topic that someone could write a book on, I imagine the guys at company's like Spectrasonics or Roland must have a pretty interesting insight on the whole thing. Even for things like the organisation of your libary.

I'm starting to see the advantage of a program like Kore now, being able to call up all your bass presets from different synths rather than loading ten differnt vst's. Overall how have people found Kore, how well does it work with non NI products? Has anyone converted their whole library to the Kore format?
