Hmm, not sure my DSP knowledge is up to snuff, but I have written a complete VST synth. I may take a shot at this. Sounds like a dream job, actually.Peter from LinPlug wrote:for the job descrition and contact details please have a look at

As we say, your chances are not good when you fail in all we look for, but you also not have to match all criteria to have a real chance, because probably nobody will 100% fit and work for a reasonable amount of money, so we look for what we feel might work best ...

Hmmm, I'm an audio software engineer but not a DSP programmer...

One WinAmp plugin I worked on, I created the GUI in Delphi, another guy did the DSP in Visual C++. That worked quite well.

* Willingness and ability to work as a full-time freelance programmer from your own home office.
Yep!
* A Windows PC with reasonable processing power.
My laptop broke so I'm on another one down to 1.3Ghz... but (1
) I plan to buy a better one down the road (2) its enough to run synths
* A sound working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
Use it, love it.
* Previous experience of programming a VST or AU instrument.
Been dabbling with VST for almost a year but haven't released anything, does that count?
* Knowledge of audio DSP algorithms and coding practices.
Been learning... I'm no Antti huovilainen or Urs Heckman but I think when push comes to shove I can do whats needed.
* Knowledge of GUI programming standards and practices.
* Ability to quickly and efficiently comprehend complex software libraries and SDKs.
I'm currently working with C#, which means I use .NET ... picked it up pretty quickly too. Does that count?
* Ability to develop new audio processing modules and enhance existing ones.
Yup!
* Ability to comprehensively test newly developed code as well as pre-existing LinPlug code.
Do you mean acceptance tests, unit tests, or both?
* Ability to optimize new and existing code for real-time requirements.
Yup
* A team-oriented work ethic but also the ability to work independently when required.
Yup
* High degree of self-motivation.
Mmh...
* Good English reading and writing skills as you will have to communicate with other LinPlug colleagues in English.
I'd like to think I master both English and German nearly perfect.
I know C++ quite well. I do know some x86 assembly language programming but would have to brush up again. Should probably print out the AMD optimization guide and read it on the bus to school.
While I don't perfectly match (much less than braindoc, most likely
), its enough to send an email .. but I didn't. I'm a student and could only be available part-time.
However, Peter, I'd be happy to help out part-time and on the side. I'll work for next to nothing. If you do have a small part-time position available, I'd be more than happy to send you an email afterall.

Not an application, just asking Peter a somewhat complicated question.Joe Simard wrote:arke, is this really the place for your application? or are you just attempting a premature dick wag?
And I'm quite a few inches short of comparing to most of the guys idling the DSP forum here.
