So we can't afford to throw away our DAT machines yet and buy any yummy new portable recorders, maybe next year ....

So where can I buy DAT tapes in Sydney, particularly in the city, apart from the exorbitantly priced Sony Central at World Square ?

I dunno about Sydney but you can't order them online? Pretty sure Sydney isn't exactly the home of a bargain. :(

I'm in Sydney but order most stuff online. Sony Central World Square might have it, but most of the stuff there is just fashion and way too overpriced.

Check out Statice, it's a search engine finding the best deals and shops around Australia, it's always my first go:

thanks for replies guys .... online I'd go for http://www.kestonholdings.com.au/ as well -
My question about actual shops was just so I could suggest to my students (many of whom don't have credit cards) where they could walk into and buy a DAT tape. A few years back, the CD shop across the road from the art school and another down the road had DAT tapes, now it's hard to walk in and buy one anywhere.
Any other ideas appreciated, will defintely point them to Staticice though, thanks for that.

You can by DAT tapes in a computer store, they are(was) allso used as backup media, but get the shortest tapes because otherwise they are too thin for your DAT mashine (maybe)
I have used them alot without any problems. And they are cheap too...
