a utilitarian piece of ambient music

Here's a truly utilitarian piece of ambience. It is essentially one mood that lasts exactly two hours. I recommend a relatively low volume level for it. If you have subwoofers, you may get an occasional massage. There are some sublime moments in it for sure.
So, the work is made for people who are working on something at their desk or who are trying to relax on some level and yet work. It has a drifting quality. Nice to just hang out with it, especially in headphones....
And when it's over, you'll know you've spent two hours doing 'something'. Hopefully it was worth your time whatever it was!
Here's a direct link. It's about 71 megs.

Very cool piece of music and great for what you intend it to be. I've only listened to it for an hour so far but very relaxing while doing really irritating work at a computer. Thank you, you've kept me sane for at least 45 minutes.
Well worth the download.

Very nice! Let's hear some more songs in this vein.

Shane, this came up unexpectedly in the music player, without warning on the low frequency stuff. All I can say is that my headphones have a lower extension that what I thought - they've never visited these realms before!

hehe. Yeah, around the 27 minute mark is some murky waters.rockstar_not wrote:Shane, this came up unexpectedly in the music player, without warning on the low frequency stuff. All I can say is that my headphones have a lower extension that what I thought - they've never visited these realms before!

Wow!
Nice ambiance Shane
So you have the picture -- it has been accompanying my breakfast here this morning while I look out over a redish haze that is covering us for the last couple of days from the sands of the Gobi desert -- along with the tremendous pollution -- the sun is a weird orange-red ball in the sky -- a typically apocolyptic type scenario here.
I love the foghorn from hell....
Cool!
Cheers,
Alex

Oh geez -- you bumped it...
I thought it was a NEW piece and downloaded it all over again...
Oh well -- now I have two copies of a great piece of music.
On the more serious side -- I am SO glad someone has the patience to do this kind of thing.
I tried it once using the free NI plug 'Metaphysical Function' but it sounded too monotonous. Whenever I've tried to do a long ambient piece by playing it in real time, I don't want to listen to it anymore because it's TOO predictable for me -- since I wrote it...
Thanks for being so unselfish
Cheers,
Alex

Nice work, Shane. I really enjoyed this. I did Yoga to it this morning and might have had an out of body experience. Thanks for sharing,

Yesterday I listened to the first 20 minutes or so of this, and liked it quite a bit.
Today I'll try it in the office, I felt a bit guilty last night listening to it because I wasn't working, but today I'll have this as my sonic backdrop all day (or until my colleagues start complaining).
