Unlike the "brady quinn" situation of this weekend (sorry, I know you guys are in florida and pissed about it......)

Ok, first impression.......it's "jimi hendrix" With my "clapton" strat, the first thing I've noticed is tremendous detail for making thing feel and sound jimi. Although this may not be for everyone......I really have to give high HIGH end kudos for that. I'll need two or three days to do it through the hosts.......bugs..........what/what doesn't work.....yadda..........but I've been waiting for this and feel compeled to give the demo a once over so that others can join in......deny.......confirm.......etc. One thing I already like is the way the panning/verb is used.

Ok, some bad news.......It's a bit cpu hungry. At 48k, 256 buffer, intelmac coreduo 2.0ghz, 1.5 ram, motu travler.......it's running between 20ish and 27/28ish so far.....that's about 5% higher than ampeg svx and quite a bit higher than GR2 (unless supermaxed out with fx/splits/etc) To me, this could be a problem with doing multiple tracks.........I am of course, interested in PC performance AND older mac performance

One other thing. The Mentioned demo, is supposed to be a "full demo" until 10 days. There is a "drop out" on the demo I have. It's allot like the drop out in some demos except that it's for a long time and occures AFTER a long time (minutes opposed to second if you know what I mean)

Ok, the uni-vibe the the opti-trem are two of the best EVER!

Post

a. I forgot about the high-res.........which does help.....

b. I'm starting to reach for my credit card........this is a fun plug!

Post

everyone is asleep........hmmmm.........you've got to try this thing.........

The verb is really good.......whether it's the mono or the "studio" version......the rotory is very good as well...........

Post

Sooooooooo... did you like it?

Post

I really do so far :hihi:

The best thing about is that it makes me want to play that style......which my chops NEED that work.

Just went to the Steely Dan concert last night. Those guys flipped out over AmpliTube, Ampeg and the Jimi Hendrix Edition. It was cool. I finally got to "meet" (or hang rather) with Fagen and Becker.

The interesting thing about Hendrix is that musicians tend to respect and love him but also drool over the gear used at that time. When I talk about it I just see musicians eyes light up. "A univibe really???"

:o  :-o Ok, so you are now officially hipper than me. Plus, I hate you

The first 4 slots in my car cd changer are filled with Citizen Dan ;-)

You guys are right on my level.......SD is just something to behold.

I was trying (with what actually seems to be little success ) to instill the virtues of this plug.......

Which the exception of the "crazy drop out.......loooped feedback thing" (macintel it seems to be limited to) there are some excellent reasons to get this...especially with the crossgrade. My "crossgrade" price for SVX was 50 bucks more and it's not quite the "can't wait to use it" that JHE is

The first thing (and I believe this is very important ) is the "hip" factor. That gets a TEN! There is no lack of "cool" from this plug. Yes, you might not be using it to do all your guitar tracks, but you will probably never get tired of having fun with it.

It's pretty deep if you really get into it, there's allot you can accomplish. My favorite "surprises" are, the univibe and the trem, the verbs (spring verb mono or the studio verb) and the ability to beautiful cleanish or viby viby lead sounds.

Ok, can you tell I like this plug?

I also like the way it looks. I used to give them a hard time about the GUIs. I never liked the original AmpliTube GUI. But I love the AT2 GUI and the Hendrix edition with all of the vintage looking interfaces is just fun and inspiring... as superficial as that may sound. But, you're looking at it so it might as well look cool! Sounds great to go along with it... you're right that it isn't something you necessarily use on every track but when you want vintage tones and character fuzz and liquidy modulation effects pull this out and you'll get some good results!

I am watching this "classic albums live" thing on VH1 right now. Great idea. They should try to get every band to do this. Steely Dan to do Royal Scam or something. Heart is on right now doing Dreamboat. So nice to hear the ALBUM tracks. I've always prefered album tracks to the hits actually in most cases.

Dude, you musta been reading my mind...I've been driving everyone crazy cuz I keep playing "Don't Take Me Alive" over and over again recently...one of the more under-rated SD cuts in my mind.

are you talking about the "cd 101" thing with heart? I was just watching that and was like "hey, I'll bet I could cop some of those licks" with the JHE thing........and walla! Fun o'rama with "crazy on you"...........

Sell the kids...buy this plug  I just love this thing. Like I said in another thread, even the feedback is perfectly random. It's the only thing I've gotten into in the last 10 years that makes me want to play live again.

Actually, it's so good, I already feel like I'm playing live again ;-)

I should have a short demo by the end of the weekend.

Did I mention that I  the Jimi Hendrix Edition?

Hey, beergeek! What do you think of the new Jimi Hendrix Edition? No, tell us what you really think.

Post

Hey Rev...

It's OK... Seriously, maybe I haven't tried enough amp sims but I never thought I could get the nuances of sound that I can with this one.

I mean, I have AT2 but there appears to be some small but important differences in the sounds.

I'm working on a demo and I'm going to compare the same amps and pedals (some of the same) just to see if it's just an illusion ;-)

I'm also going to run the same licks through the different fuzz pedals for an illustration of the differences again and see what everyone thinks.

If I'm right, there should be a stampede of eSoundz sales ;-)

If not, then my ears are just to fried to know
