Opinions on Apogee DA-16X

I'm looking for a step up in quality over my Motu Ultralite and I'm gathering as much info as I can on the Apogee DA-16X.

The environment it will be used in is:

Software:
Final Cut Studio 2.0 (7.1 surround work with video)
Logic Pro 7.1
Digital Performer 5.11
Shake 4

Hardware
MacPro
7.1 Genelec 8030 + sub
Mackie control surfaces
M-Auido Axiom midi keyboard/controller
Various HD video camcorders

I don't do direct recording and all instruments are virtual (no Live work). Any recorded audio is done out in the field on a portable DAT.

$3000 is about as much as I want to spend.

Appreciate thoughts and opinions, especially from existing owners.
