Here's a new one for you. It's a Phreakbox (my electronic music alter-ego... it's not important) dance remix of the Sock Monkeys instant classic "Everybody Poops".

"Everybody Poops" (Phreakbox's Big Poop remix)

(And yes, I did pretty much follow the paint-by-numbers tutorial from the April issue of Computer Music magazine).

Listen to the original as well as many other cool potty-training-related tunes on the Sock Monkeys' webpage.

Nice dance groove there doc. The only thing i would suggest is pick a different hi hat sound. That and tune the "Everybody" vocal sample just a notch higher when she says "Body" (unless your intent was to have it sound a bit off key).
Anyhow, good remix.

Edit: As i am listening, you are using the "everybody" sample a tad too much. :hihi: Just IMO

I like the way you spread the poop from left to right. I mean the poop samples. You know what I mean.

The hi hat is definitely different but I think different is good in this case. As already suggested, tuning the samples up a couple of semitones might be a good thing to do.

Not sure that this song will really catch on in the trendiest of clubs, but it will doubtlessly have a cult following soon.

Thanks for the feedback! It's my first Remix since my 2004 homage to Yaphet Kotto so I'm still getting into the groove of how best to rip apart someone else's work (it's a lot more fun, it turns out, than writing my own). I agree now that the 'body' is detuned and overused.

Dr. 'X - we have to do another collab. I just finished watching the Funk Brothers tribute flick and feel I need to give some more study to Motown.

Regarding this song - yes, I think the body part needs to be in-key with the backing tracks.
