I just recieved an M-Audio Jamlab. I only purchased

>trying to open P.T...."Cannot detect an M-Audio hardware

Many of the newer devices from M-Audio need to use the latest versions of ProTools to work. Another factor is that if you are using a notebook with WiFi, you need may need to turn the wireless device off, because they often times seem to interfere with ProTools.

In order to use a PT qualified M-Audio device for PT you have to have M-Powered PT, NOT the versions that work with Digidesign hardware.

Yes. I have Pro Tools M-Powered. I would NEVER spend the money to have the Digi version and the several hundred dollar dongle they make you buy...the M-Box.

I recommend you call Digi support then.

Problem resolved, once again, thanks to you guys here at KVR.

I downloaded the latest driver from the M-Audio site and it now works. I just didn't think this would be necessary, or likely to help, since this is a relatively new product. It has been advertised as compatible with P.T. M-Powered for months. I didn't think it was very likely that the one I just bought would have come with a disk with crusty old drivers from before the whole M-Powered thing came about.

Thanks again.

On a side note, as for contacting M-Audio or Digi, I find their tech support very poor for such a large company. M-Audio had pretty good tech support before they were bought by Avid. Now, they make you post a question on this web portal thing. It's complete B.S. I've left messages on there before and they never bothered to respond, even MONTHS later.

I have to use Avid for work and Digidesign actually makes customers PAY (through monthly tech support plans)for the priveledge of getting tech support from them for the use of their products. The level of hubris from that company is what turns me off to them and their products. I only use their stuff when they have a solution to something that absolutely no else has, an exclusive third party kick ass plugin or something, or someone requires me to use it at work. I still stand in firm opposition to the Pro Tools, Avid, Digidesign hegemony!
