How do you get this throaty kind of distortion on a saw wave

hear it in alot of the tech/electro house tracks nowadays.. saw synth (pretty sure its just a saw, maybe with a lil sine sub..
but the throaty distortion, can anyone try to recreate please, or give tips... maybe some kind of high res filters before the distortion maybe?

I can get quite similar sounds with phoscyon and its built-in distortion unit.
Try a saw with an open LP filter and moderate resonance, but the real character must come from the distortion.
It depends on the plugins you have.

very simple,
You need a synth, not virtual analog (NOT Vanguard)...
and CamelCrusher (http://www.camelaudio.com/camelcrusher.php)
Put a saw wave in the synth and put CamelCrusher in the fx.
Turn up the res on the synth's filter.
Open CamelCrusher and make it look like this

yeh i sorta thought it might be something like that. Ive tried but didnt really get that throatyness though, i think im not using the right distortion
can anyone reccommend one thatd get this effect nicely?

I got it quite fine (IMHO) using just the distortion within the filters in Anna

cheers sb. posted before i saw your reply.. ill try that one tonight.. whats wrong with using a virtual analogue synth if your'e only using a saw wave? dont think i got a synth that isnt virtual analogue lol
