Slicing Samples the MPC way

PLEEEASE somebody tell me which VST plugin gives me the option to slice samples into EQUAL PARTS!!!! (1/8,1/16 etc.) I hate the "sensitive" & "autodetect beat.." features of recycle & co. I NEED EQUAL PARTS SLICING like Phatmatik for example, but this one hosts only one sample. I want to map several chopped samples over my midi-keys/pads on different octaves/patterns (like the MPC as I said..)

That would save me a lot of time (and many people), and "provide room" for more creativity and playing music instead of switching between wavelab, phatmatik, battery, ableton and back again.... to do THIS simple task the MPC does on the fly.
(No I cant't buy one right now, and I prefer to use software)
Anyone knows what I mean?

I have tried almost everything..

Liveslice. It has auto-detect, but if you manually set the slice number, it'll slice in even parts.

Also Image Line's Edison from the Juice Pack. It has three grid slicing modes that are all equal. But it can't be played via MIDI, you'd have to drag it over to a sampler.

why not just ctrl+E in Live?

ReCycle lets you slice to grid values (not a plugin, but...) propellerheads.se

am almost positive Phatmatik Pro can do that. izotope.com

that free sampler, HighLife, from DiscoDSP.com

Battery 3 native-instruments.com (probably Kontakt2 as well)

Guru (divine machine designed for FXpansion.com)

EXS-24 can open Rex files as slices

etc. etc. etc.

Guru is probably the best choice if you like "MPC Style" production since it is basically a slicing drum machine. Phatmatik Pro is like Dr. Rex taken to the next level. Battery 3 would be best if you are more into MIDI composition in DAWs and want a great drum sampler.

How do you slice in Battery 3? I'm looking every where, but can't find it. It'll play rex files, but I can't figure out a way to slice wavs.

And does Guru let you do grid slicing? All I can see is the smart slice feature.

The slicer in FL Studio will do that.

If you had any idea how to use ReCycle you would know it allows you to do precisely what u ask

you can than easily map to different octaves in any sampler..

Buzz with a recorder like CnG Recorder.

THanks everybody.
Yes, I have to admit that I am not expert on ReCycle, that option with the Grid sounds good and thank you for that I'll use from now on.
But It's still not practical enough, because I need to use it in the daw and make changes sometimes (everytime actually), and for that I'd have to use Recycle again and again manually, open - save etc. Thats not what I ment. MPC-Way means Faster than this. Any other Ideas?

(And, Nonplus, I use Battery as my main sampling VST but I've never heard before that it can chop samples in slices, and I m not talking about copying the same sample over the pads and just changing the startpoint, I mean slicing into EQUAL parts and mapping automatically - as I already said. Can you or anybody tell me how this works please?)

Post

Get phatmatik pro. It'll do what ReCycle does as a VST.

This can't be done in Battery, period.

Ok, this removes the stop button, so? Nice tip..

Post

ctrl+E in Live makes a cut in the clip, but you'd have to do this manually for every slice. The OP wants an automatic slicer.

What's slick in Live is that you can simply highlight the part of the clip you want to "slice", and drag that into the instrument. Very cool, though still manual and not automatic. Also not sure if that trick works with 3rd party instruments, but it does with Live's built-in instruments....

Already got it. But for every sample I need to open another VST. I need to switch between chopped samples quick. Maybe I am just asking too much.. But there will be others. I just thought there must be some VST Instrument doing that (should I call it "Multi-Sample-Slicing Instrument"?!! or smth like that)
IS THERE NOBODY OUT THERE WHO WANTS TO DO THAT EXCEPT mE?
Or is AKAI doing some kinda sabotage to all VST-Programmers trying to create a "Virtual MPC Instrument"?? Is that SOO dfficult?

I am sure there are many who want the same, because they just don't want to change to hardware and all the peripherials needed ONLY to use an MPC. So why hasn't been made something like that? And if there is.. why does NOBODY KNOW?

(Besides, if there isn't one, then anybody who will develop the "MPCXXXX VST" (yeah, why not name it like that), will make a TON OF CASH outta this. And this is for sure!
Now that's a motive, right? If I could, I would start right now!)
