some questions about makiing guitar sound like '80 rock

hello, mates.
i have some questions how to make '80 rock guitar sound...
i'd like to make it sound like arena rock sound such as Asia, ToTo, Etc...
their backing guitar sound got real ambience...
but i don't know if they used an extra plate reverb or they used just natural ambience for those tracks..
how can i make that sound ?

to add to this : a song of whitesnake, 'give me all your love'
in the song, din't they use any synthesizer on verse parts ?
i can hear some sound like synth, but in several score, there were only backing guitars...
