Is it a hardware or software synth? Is it analog or digital?

What kind of synth was used to make this note?

It's a software synthesizer, no doubt about it! (though I'm not quite sure which one)

It's a digital hardware synthesizer, no question! (but I don't really know which one)

It's an analog hardware synthesizer, obviously! (though I couldn't tell you which one)

You're trying to trick me, it's a digital hardware synthesizer with analog filters!

I'm tired of all these silly polls, so I've decided to make a silly poll of my own.
This time you get a sample that's actually proper. Synth only, no external or internal effects, no trickery (hum, clicks, noise, whatever), just pure synth sound, and this patch I made actually shows what the synth can do, unlike boring, conventional factory preset style patches that lack character.

Analog? Digital? Hardware synth? Software synth?
No one will guess which synth it is anyway.

Get it.
Edit: also get this sample.

There is some stepping that indicates it's a digital synth. The resonance makes me think of Albino. The way it sounds i think it's not a vintage emulation. It's also not a hardware synth as they normally pack some more punch in the lower frequency's. Could it be Albino?

another poll for people with no interest in making actual music.

Hehe that's right. I'm a sound designer so this poll does have my interest lol ;)

Dave N: there's always a chance, and you can always guess :).
whyterabbyt: not really. A poll for people who are interested in what can make what sound.

One Ping Only?

the oscilators sound digital to me, but I'm not sure on the filters lol....hmm tricky one this. Id say a digital synth going through either a nice analog style digital filter...or going through an actual analog filter with the freq knob being turned manually by hand.

If we were writing music at this very point in time, we wouldn't be on the forum reading this he he.... it's just a bit of fun :)

Sam@Megablas: Note it's nothing but a synth, no external stuff.

How? How does a poll on how one single sound was generated relate to anyone's ability to produce music using any of a vast range of available instruments.

do all people need this sound to make music? is this sound somehow universally representative of all sounds that exist, and might be used in music? is this sound unique? would an audience rebel, and stone the musician to death with 'potted' ARP filters if a mere approximation of this sound was heard? does this sound represent a pinnacle of warmth, phatness, tarnce, streetcred and snookyface in one single auditory experience, unrepeatable except for hand-crafted, point-wired circuits inlayed with the sacred signature of Bob Moog?

Or is it all just 'do not look behind the curtain' wankery, the attempt to dick-wave ones way into credibility by dint of using the 'right' gear, the magic presence of which is presumed to lead to chart success, peer-group accolades, and the draw of legendarily nubile hordes of synth-anorak groupies, a legion of stunning nymphettes miraculously made moist in the presence of NOS vintage valves, analogue modulars, and opamp temperature-compensation curves.

whyterabbyt: o_O, actually, this sound represents nothing. I didn't think of "representing" anything specific with this sample. I'm just wondering about people's perception of the sound and like reading comments about why someone thinks this was made with A or B or whatever. Sometimes there are really interesting comments, and, it's just kind of fun.
I didn't talk about needing specific gear or whatever to make music.. oh well :).

That's actually the reason I made this thread. I wanted to present a sample that's nothing except synth without trickery, plus what I think is a more interesting and indicative sound.
