AFAIK Reason doesn't handle audio... you can't actually sample with it sorry. Only use your samples within one of its sampler units.

Nothing. You cant put samples in a padKontrol, its not for that.

If you want to create drum samples for the samplers in Reason, start with Audacity, its free.

Did you read the manual for your padKontrol at all??? Does it say anything, anywhere about being able to load samples?

The padKontrol sends MIDI. Thats it. It doesnt make sound, it doesnt store samples. The guy in the video has the padKontrol hooked up to something else.

*ahem*

So - your padKontrol. It does not make any sounds on it's own. All it can do is send messages (MIDI) to your computer.

You need to hook up the midi out of the padKontrol to the midi in on your soundcard.

Next - get one of your songs that you want to chop up and load it into Audacity (google for it). It's a free sound editor that will let you select a portion of a song and save it as a seperate sound file ( called a WAV file)

Next, load your chopped up bits of song (your WAV files) into the sampler in Reason (NNXT ????) and map each one to a different key.

Finally - look at your padKontrol manual and find out how to set each pad's midi note number to the keys that you put the samples on in NNXT.

If you are at the wind up, I have just wasted three minutes of my life that I can never get back.......grrrrrrrrr.

scuzzphut almost has it right. However, there's an undocumented feature in the PadKontrol that might help.

Load the samples in any sampler, such as NNXT in Reason. Then map them to any 16 notes. Then set the Scene in the padKontrol so that each pad is mapped to a different one of those 16 notes.

Then quickly press all sixteen pads on the padKontrol, twice. They must all be struck simultaneously, both times. That will transfer the chopped samples to the padKontrol's hard drive.

Sometimes this takes practice.

really?

I'm going out to buy one right now ! :tu:

Like you, I'm just doing my part to help a newb, scuzzphut. :)

Stattis -- If you get two, you can do 32 samples at once. But you'll probably have to have a friend help with the loading all the samples simultaneously.

The possibilities are endless, if you have lots of friends... :D

GreyLion: will that work w/ smth like DS-404 in Tracktion? Or its native sampler? I'm intrigued, to say the least...

Hey, that even comes w/ Reason Adapted!

Which is like a demo plus a coupon off on the full version. I keep meaning to get my Adapted license out and give it to my musically-inclined nephew... must do that soon.

It looks like your ruse has been ineffective, Greylion.
